Ana Gurau studied philosophy at Babes-Bolyai University in Romania. She then pursued a Master's degree in Public Policy at Central European University in Hungary. Her academic interests revolve around matters of public finance and redistribution, particularly in the area of ​​health policy. As part of her doctoral studies in bioethics, Ana is writing a thesis on the ethical issues of early dementia diagnosis, with a focus on the financing of clinical R&D, under the supervision of Prof. Samia Hurst and Prof. Barbara Lucas (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland). She conducted clinical observations at the Geneva University Hospitals and worked as a researcher within the National Research Programme 74 “Smarter Health Care” of the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Prior to starting her PhD, Ana worked in grant management at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva and in consulting at KPMG in Hungary. She also remains an active member of civil society involved in promoting gender equality in Moldova.

Ana is an experienced speaker and long-time member of the International Debate Education Association. She organizes debating activities for high school and university students, leads workshops and helps to organise international events and develop study programmes.
